I am starting this fundraising page for my mom. She has been diagnosed with Stage IV cholangiocarcinoma of the intrahepatic bile duct. It has already spread to her liver as well. She just got home from Jefferson hospital on 9/4/15 after being there for 8 days for a blockage of her common bile duct by a gallstone, which led to a nasty infection (cholangitis), she then needed an ERCP procedure to remove the blockage. she was slightly jaundice, had a bout of pancreatitis (due to the ERCP procedure), and sepsis. She is now home & on Thursday September 10th, she began chemotherapy at Jefferson in Philadelphia.
She has been out of work since the first week of August, and is currently on Family Leave, which allows her to keep her insurance going, but possibly only until early November. My mom has worked 2 jobs for many years, one in Galloway Township (in the police department) & her second job is at The Islander in Ocean City, NJ. Right now she is waiting for disability to kick it, and even once it does, it will barely cover her financial responsibilites such as rent, utilities, car payment & car insurance, food, credit card bills, doctor co-pays, prescriptions, travel to & from Philadelphia, & any other expenses that might come up during her care. Also, if she does lose her health insurance in November, that will create astronomical expenses for her to cover the cost of all her treatment at Jefferson. We want to make sure she has a good cushion to make her financial situation one less worry for her during this difficult time. Every little bit helps, so please do not think even a small donation isn't worth it.
My mom is not only an extremely important person in my life, but in so many other people's lives. She is a mother, sister, grandmother (Cici!), mother-in-law, friend, co-worker, aunt, and all around great person!
My mom needs all the help she can get. We are facing a very steep uphill battle with this rare cancer she is now fighting. Any little bit can help.
