Family devastated by suicide

Donation protected
On Thursday the 26th July 2018, Megan and her three children lost their beloved husband and father to suicide.  No one realised that behind Jerry’s huge smile and cheeky laugh there was so much pain.  Jerry was a committed, loving and fun father.  He was a best friend and wonderful husband to his wife, Megan, for almost 18 years.  He was a passionate Geelong fan and absolutely loved all things Dr Who.  He was a self-taught handy man and he had just started building a table.  He used to spend hours watching YouTube videos gathering ideas on new things he could make.  He was a gentle, caring, generous and hardworking man who had a heart of gold.  He will be missed by many and will never, ever be forgotten.

I have started this gofundme on behalf of Megan with her blessing and encouragement from her family and friends.  This gofundme will be used to raise funds to cover the costs of Jerry’s funeral and expenses that are associated with moving as understandably, the children don’t want to go home to where their happy memories have now been replaced by fear and confusion.  The quote they have received from the funeral home is $14,500 - money which Megan does not have readily available.  Moving expenses have been estimated to be $5,000 and now that Megan faces the situation of raising 3 children as a single mother, anything raised above that amount will be used to assist Megan in building a new life for herself and their children.  It is also hoped that Megan may not be forced to return to work immediately, so she can stay with the children to help them recover.

It would be appreciated if you could share this page in hope that Megan’s story is received by others with understanding, kindness and generosity.  It is hoped that if this page reaches someone who may be feeling like there is no other way than ending it all and bailing out that they understand that there is someone available to talk to.  Suicide is permanent and talking to someone will help you see how much value and purpose your life has.  I encourage you to speak to someone who will help you get through how you’re feeling right now as there is hope.
