Australia Expedition and Residency

This Summer, in May and June, I am embarking on an artistic expedition in Australia with the goal of visiting sites that are important to my project and gathering footage, images, objects, and stories for my work. This trip to Australia will give me the opportunity to visit one of the most important of these sites --- where my Grandfather wrecked his ship. I am asking for your help to fund the travel portion of my expedition. 

Working with my family's own story, I have been investigating the exploration through the artifacts that are left behind in museums and through the tales of the explorers themselves. 

I will be the artist-in-residence at The Lock-Up  in Newscastle and will be using that location as a base of operations. I will be traveling up and down the coast, visiting museums and libraries that hold items from the Fahnestock South Sea Expedition. 

I am raising funds for travel expenses. The residency is free of charge but the plane and train tickets are adding up quickly. I will need the funds before I head out to Australia at the beginning of May.
