Fahim Baig Recovery & Family Travel

Donation protected

Beloved Berea students, Fahim, Eny, Joana, and Darryl were in a horrific car accident on Friday, October 27th, 2017 in Berea, Kentucky when their car collided with a truck off exit 77. Both Joana and Eny were killed in the crash. Joana passed on impact, and Eny passed later at UK hospital due to her injuries. Fahim
is being cared for at UK Hospital, but is in critical condition.
Fahim has a great chance at survival and success, but needs surgeries, and will most likely need rehabilitation.  As you may know, Fahim's mother is in Bangladesh and his father is in Japan. The goal of this fund is to raise money for Fahim's medical expenses, and to fund travel to the United States for his family. The money is also to be used for food, gas, hotels, and any other needs for this mother and father while in the US.
The entire Berea Community is devastated by the losses and destruction caused by this wreck, however, we want to cling to hope. By donating to this cause, you will allow a mother and father, wrought with grief, to stand beside their child during this time. Fahim needs his parents during this difficult time, and international travel is very expensive. While preparing for travel, his parents must deal with Visas, worry, and logistical problems. By donating, you can eliminate the desperate and immediate need for financial support so they may be with Fahim as soon as possible.
Thank you for sharing your financial gift with this deserving family. Money raised will go directly to Fawzia, Fahim's mother.

Per GoFundMe's Guidelines, I must share more about myself and my intentions. My name is Christine Osasu and I am a Berea College graduate from 2016. I've been a close friend of all of the students involved in the accident since their arrival at Berea College. I was born and raised in Gainesville, Georgia, where I've returned to after my graduation in Kentucky.
The funds raised are inteneted to benifit Fahim, his mother, Fawzia, and his father, Asef. Both of his parents will travel from long distances and will need support both to get here, and to stay here. Fahim is in need of long-term rehabilitation. This will require the family paying to stay in a hotel for some time. While they are here, they will need to pay for all of thier needs here (shelter, food, travel to and from hotel, toiletries, incidentals) and they will still be responsible for other outgoing monies that existed prior to the accident. The core intenetion of this fundraiser is to provide extra money to Fahim and his family so they may stay together in the US, pay for Fahim's medical bills and medication (ongoing), and ease the burden of leaving their existing financial obligations in thier home country.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I feel it important to share that Bangladesh is not supported by gofundme. Because of this, Fawzia and I have set up an account in the US for her to access the money through. Because she is not an American citizen, or a foreigner with a permanent address here, we are both on the account. I will not access any of the funds personally, yet I have to be the primary on the account due to her citizenship and residency status. All of the funds raised will still go directly to Fahim and his family, just through a less direct route.
Thank you for all of your support and prayers. We are hoping Fahim will be moved out of ICU shortly.
