Fable's Spine Surgery
We rescued our Fable November of 2014, bringing her into a loving home after 6 years of neglect from the previous owner. She is my best companion, my helper for anxiety and chronic-illness-related grief, a joy to everyone she encounters. Her love and simple presence is an invaluable gift to me.
On the evening of July 10, 2017 our beautiful rescue dog, Fable, began showing weakness in her back legs. By the 12th, she had lost most of the use of her hind and was referred to a veterinary neurologist for immediate care. After testing, we found Fable had a slipped disc in her lower spine that had to be repaired to save her life. Thankfully, Dr. Wong and the amazing team at Southeast Vet Neurology jumped into action to save our beloved baby's life. She is out of surgery now and we have been given excellent prognosis for a full recovery. Over the moon!
Unfortunately our joy has been tempered by the large bill for her care. The high estimate for her care is $8,000.00. We need help.
Please, if you can, contribute to our goal. We are covering all of this that we can and anyone who knows me knows how I loathe asking for help, but this time the need is too great.
Any amount would help ease this financial burden. Even just sharing this with your friends and family is a great help. If you can, please help us care for our perfect little pup.
Thank you. More than words can say, thank you.
Fable has been cleared for discharge this afternoon and should be safe and sound at home by early evening. I am ecstatic to have my little one back home where she belongs.
Thank you all again! ♡♡♡
Fable had another great night and has been completely weaned off the IV, though is still on a high dose of pain medication to keep her comfortable. I added some photos they sent me today - I especially love the happy ear-scritches face!
We are less than $1300 from our goal to be able to bring her home. Please keep sharing ♡
We are SO close to the total needed to pick her up on Monday. Please share!
Fable did beautifully today. She has been weaned off the IV and had a great PT session to loosen her muscles and start to apply very slight floor-touches with her back feet. No weight bearing yet but its still too soon to be expected.
They are looking forward to her having a quiet, comfortable night. ♡
