Hello beautiful friend, I am here..in this somewhat edgey place asking for your help. I have been told so many many times now that I should ask for help when I need it...so here it is...my ask...
A little story...
Shortly after moving to Tavistock last October I noticed something a bit different in my left breast. I kept it to myself for a while, thinking it would just go away...however...it did not go away. Although I am all too familiar with breast cancer through my experiences with my mum, nan and mother in law, I didn't think that at I was at risk as a healthy 38 year old mother of two young children. I had recently qualified as a reflexologist, taking good care of my body and mind and had none of the risk factors for breast cancer. ...unfortunately cancer didn't care much for that!
In short, after a few visits to the GP I was sent to Derriford and they confirmed the worst; it was an agressive cancer that had spread to my lymph but did not look to have spread beyond that. My world has been a rollercoaster since that day. I even feel now as if I am writing about someone else, its all so surreal. I am currently nearly halfway through chemotherapy treatments and will have radiotherapy and ongoing hormonal treatment after that.
Navigating family life, keeping sane and keeping things as 'normal' as possible for the kids has been challenging to say the least but I have found things to help me through. I have found ways to help me deal with the deep emotional and physical hurdles. One of these ways, and a very potent healing aspect, has been my time spent on retreat on Dartmoor with an amazing woman, Denise Rowe. Spending time away where I can just 'be'...where I am catered for, cared for and don't have to do anything is just blissful. Being at home is difficult, as any parent knows, there are always things to do, to clean, to fix to tend to...I find it icredibly difficult to fully rest and relax. So, what I am asking for, is a little help. I havent been able to work since January and having just moved to a rather more urban area the cost of living has most certainly gone up.
What I am asking for a little gesture, £2 or so.... in lieu of sending a get well soon card, flowers or treating me to a cuppa..is that you help me towards the cost of the retreat, which Denise has kindly offered at a concessionary rate..and she has given me so much already..I am eternally grateful!
Thank you, please know that anything at all is welcomed..however big however small.
If I raise more than I need then any monies will go towards a family treat/getaway over the summer. I love my family so much, they have been a huge source of love and joy throughout this time.
