Lauren's tumor is more than likely back. Earlier this week she started feeling a lot weaker in her right arm and at this point she is unable to move either of her arms. Yesterday morning she woke up and was having difficulty breathing in her own. So she was on oxygen all day yesterday. And Lauren's cancer doctors said her arms and legs will be the first to go and then her breathing and swallowing. Her breathing became worse during the night and we did end up calling 911 but Lauren did not want to go back to the hospital. So at 8 we are going to call hospice and they are going to come in and try to make Lauren as comfortable as possible.

We are going to need more help as Katie is on permanent leave from work. No income is coming in...please consider donating again. THANK YOU!!

Lauren had surgery yesterday (November 10th) From Hannah: The orthopedic surgeon just came to talk to us. He told us that while they were detaching the scar tissue from the spinal chord the scar tissue they noticed that it was the scar pushing down on a patch they placed during her last surgery. And so once they relieved some of that tension the scar tissue was able to pop right off of her spinal chord and the monitors showed her signals in her legs spike up. So they are pretty confident that that was the main cause of why she was losing function in her legs. So they are going to hold off on putting her rods and screws in to see how she does recovering from this and see if that was truly the reason.
As of 7:30 last night (November 10th):
We are together in the ICU now! She is doing well! She is slowly being unhooked from everything at first she was pretty uncomfortable with her neck brace being on on top of her incision but they gave her a button that she can press when ever she is in pain and then that delivers medicine to her. I guess she was in ICU and waiting for us for an hour, but we never got paged. But we are with her now and she is just pretty sleepy!

My daughter was diagnosed with spinal cord astrocytoma at 13. She too had radiation at UW followed by chemo. She also had surgery first. My daughter is 23 now and a cancer survivor! Good luck to you. There is hope. Have you looked into staying at the Ronald McDonald house in NorthSeattle?? You only pay what you can. Some insurance companies pay for everything. It helps to remain close. Good luck, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I have walked in your shoes, and if i can help in any way, please let me know...
