RIP Our Sweet Angel Miyah Odber

Hi my name is Miyah. Im almost a month old now. When my mom was still pregnant with me both her and my dad found out I have a heart condition called AVSD ( Atrioventricular Septal Defect). In short form what that means is that I have 2 holes in my heart. My family and friends are putting together this gofundme to help my mom and dad afford for me to go down to Toronto to have open heart surgery to fix all my heart problems. As many of you can image its not easy for my mom and dad as well as my 3 older sisters to have all the money for the trip cost as well as all the normal bills. I will be having surgery at the Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and will be down in Toronto for a week to a month depending on my recovery. I know how hard all of this has been on my whole family not just my mom and dad so anything anyone can do to help we would all appreciate it.

What is AVSD?

So Atrioventricular Septal Defect means there is a hole between the atria and between the ventricles.
In normal heart there is a mitral valve between the left atrium and ventricle and a tricuspid valve between the right atrium and ventricle. Hearts affected by AVSD only have one atrioventricular valve.The blood on the left side of the heart is at higher pressure than the blood on the right side of the heart. This means that oxygenated blood flows from the left side of the heart, through the holes and mixes with the deoxygenated blood on the right side of the heart. The result is that there is too much blood on the right hand side of the heart. This blood then has to flow at high pressure into the pulmonary artery towards the lungs.
