UPDATED, CHANGED:

Below is the original entry.

Since then, Ronnie had a bad fall. No bones broken just the biggest hematoma the ER or I have ever seen. He's sore and turning purple and yellow around most of his middle, and is unable to fully function. The ER was unable to (as usual) offer any pharmaceutical aid: he cannot use more than Tylenol for pain.

My own illness spiraled into yet another round of paraspinal muscle spasms. All this, on Tuesday.

We are exhausted. Keeping a supply of natural remedies and supplements is nearing impossible, without cash. Insurance will not pay for what we can use, so that's that.

I took "Starting over" off the title of this because, simply, I begin to doubt any viable future for any people with chronic illness in the U.S. All that's left is bare-bones survival, if that.
...

A little over a year ago, we lost our home to foreclosure. It would have been paid off in four years, and we had worked a lifetime to get to where we were. It was, and is, a major blow to our survival as we deal with chronic illness and aging in a poor economy and location. Surgeries and lack of real health care are burdens that continue to plague us.

We've been unable to restart our lives in this area. Upon examination, we've discovered a subculture of people with stories very similar, people who live and work out of campers, across the country. We hope to join the ranks of those who refuse to stop living because of economic opposition, and we hope to do so by this spring.

For now, the funds will be for survival alone. We're experiencing a complete lack of income due to surgery and continued disability.

This is not a new situation for us. We struggle, daily, for a path out of the downward spiral. At last, we've come to a possibility: living as nomads, working where there's work, doing what we're able to do.

Any help is appreciated, and in any form. Cash is good, but we'd prefer to give value for value. Talk to me.
