Karen’s Pain Relief Pursuit

Karen Kamminga experienced an injury August 5, 2017 when she smashed her right wrist between a boat and a boat trailer while loading a boat. After the months of pain that followed she was diagnosed with RSD/CPRS in October or November. RSD/CRPS is Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome that developed from an injury. (https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/complex-regional-pain-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20371151) It’s not well understood why this occurs but for Karen this has caused intense daily pain, sleepless nights, symptoms of depression,  fatigue, mental fog, and exhaustion. Her day starts with struggling with simple tasks that we take for granted, to shower, wash her hair, getting dressed, feeding her family, and leaving exhausted to spend her day at work. When she gets home she try’s to find the most pain free position to find relief. This cycle continues daily leading to feelings of guilt as it has become difficult in doing household tasks and strenuous to participate in  activities with her kids and grandchildren. She has attempted to receive treatment locally and has found only short term relief. Karen still manages to keep a smile on her face in an attempt to hide her daily battle with pain. Specialists in this are few and far between. Due to the pain spreading, Karen and Forrest are going to be forced to travel to find a treatment that works. To make things even more difficult, Karen is right handed. So I’m asking for any financial support you can offer to help meet her medical needs. All funds will be managed by Karen and Forrest.
