It's hard to even start. It says tell your story...
No one ever wants to hear "You have cancer". I can't even imagine what that moment would feel like. So how do I tell this story?

I will start by saying Lori is one of the strongest people I know. When you are faced with many of life's challenges and still keep that beautiful smile while battling them all is strength like no other. But this will be the biggest battle of them all. Do I, and many others, think she will battle this one as she has battled the others with strength and courage? Absolutely.
Lori has been recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. A very rare cancer that affects less than 200,000 people per year. A brief description: The plasma cells are a type of white blood cell in the bone marrow. With this condition, a group of plasma cells becomes cancerous and multiplies. The disease can damage the bones, immune system, kidneys, and red blood cell count.
Treatments include medications, chemotherapy, corticosteroids, radiation, or a stem-cell transplant. Unfortunately, they have not found a cure to date. So life long treatment is necessary.
I ask with all the heart I have, to please help and support her. She is self-employed and will have many treatments and medications to come. It's hard enough to wonder what the future will be, quality of life? With your help, we can lesson the amount of stress that will come along with the ongoing bills. I know my donation amount may seem high, but how do you calculate an amount for a person who is very deserving of our support that I know herself would not ask for.
If you are not able to donate, that is understandable. Just please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Take a moment to send her kind words of support. Thank you for reading this story...

Update from Lori. She will have a lot going on the next few months but we all know how strong she is. You got this girl! ❤️ .............Update: things are moving right along crazy fast! I officially had my last visit w my oncologist Thursday for three months, I'm in the hands of the BMT team now. I'm done with my normal treatment prepping my body for transplant which include no longer drinking. I stopped a week ago. Did a lot of test Thursday and Friday for insurance approval but more to come. Now comes the "fun stuff". Dates aren't locked in but I was told this is the plan, PET scan on Tuesday, bone marrow biopsy week of October 3rd (ugh), giving myself shots to produce more cells for 5 days week of October 10, collection of cells week of October 17th (this involves 4 days in a row at the hospital from 8-12 noon so they can collect enough for two transplants), then being admitted for transplant week of October 31st. I was hoping for this because I'm praying to be feeling at least a little human by the holidays. I'm scared to death and have been emotional but I'm ready and I feel good about this. My hospital stay will be 2-3 weeks but I'm going for 2 weeks or less . Everything is all good and nobody needs to worry. After insurance approval, dates will be locked in. It's go time

On a happier note... On a random road trip with Stacey Hotzel Forbes and we have no plans or destination. We are both planners so not having a plan has so far been a blast! Currently in Kentucky headed to Churchill Downs for our first horse race. Where are we headed tomorrow? No clue! Where ever the wind blows. Main goal of this is to make memories!

Update from Lori.... I made a big decision yesterday but I know it was the right one. Met with the transplant doctor and after hearing all the awful stuff I would have to go through and that there is no real clinical study to date that the process will even be beneficial to me, I said no. I have a small window to be able to receive this treatment and she needed to know now because they would do it after 4 or 6 cycles of treatment and I just finished cycle 3. It's way to intense of a deal and not for me. I believe she felt the same way. I'm not high risk to go through it. Not to mention with my heart condition it puts me at a higher risk of all side effects. I would have to give myself a shot everyday week prior, be hospitalized for 4 weeks with my entire immense system wiped clean, get the transplant and build up a new immune system from there. After care is even worse, can't work for 6 months, can't drive for 3-6 months, have to have 3 caregivers that take turns staying with me almost 24 hours only leaving me 20 minutes at a time alone for 6 months! Then when I'm strong enough and numbers are getting higher, all of the immunizations that we get from birth, I would have to get all over again. She said more than once to go with my instincts and that if I'm not 100% on board than I should say no. I didn't want to do it to begin with and that was way worse after talking with her so I'm not on board! I feel good about my decision. She said my treatment that I'm receiving now wills to change with or without the transplant. Only positive thing she said was that they could only "hope" that the transplant would put my cancer into "maintenance level" a little longer but not promises. Just not worth it to me
Stay strong and keep smiling! ❤️

Poseidon Ponds and Landscaping and its loyal clients and followers purchased 56 sweatshirts and were able to raise over $532.42 to help support Lori with her fight against cancer. To show our dedication to those who donated and that we want to remove some of the burden of medical bills we have decided to add some money and make it $800.00. You got this Lori and we love you.
