Hi, my name is Dawn Higgins . I started my business in 2009 after being laid off from the corporate world during the recession. My business name is Dawn the Pet Nanny LLC and we are located in Montgomery county Pennsylvania. Pets have always been my greatest passion and I decided to find a way to be able to work with them . I worked on my own for quite some time until I was able to file as an LLC and hire my first employee. We have come along way since then! At any given time we have between 7 to approximately 10 employees. We are a very small business.
Unfortunately like a lot of other small businesses , we have been greatly impacted by the circumstances of COVID-19! Within days all of our business was gone! We literally have one client left and we will do whatever it takes to make sure his dog is cared for as he has Parkinson’s disease!
Several of you have reached out to me to ask how you could help. to be honest, that has always been one of my downfalls, accepting help! However, we are in unprecedented times which call for drastic measures . I was extremely hopeful that the government package that was being offered would be of assistance to us but unfortunately that is not the case at least not as of right now. The stipulations that we would have to meet after the eight week term is upcannot be guaranteed and for me it’s too much of a risk. I cannot make a guarantee that we will have all of our business back in place according to the terms of the loan/grant.
With that said the back bone of my business is you, our clients and of course our dog walkers/pet sitter‘s. Most have been with us for many years .
Now some of our sitters are able to collect a partial portion of their regular checks through unemployment. Some of our sitters do not make enough to collect and one in particular has been in the hospital since February with her son who has cancer. This is a desperate time for many and I would be humbled to be able to take care of my employees and the rest of my business expenses as best as I can with your help!
