Creating An African Virtual Nation
Hello Family,
I am Marlon Weir, Founder of ::AFRIKANEKT, a transformative mobile application that aims to connect Africa and the global diaspora (peoples of African descent). We have been distant relatives for far too long, now is the time for our family reunion!
The Challenge:
Did you know there are over 1.2 billion people on the continent of Africa and over 200 million people of African descent living outside of the continent? Because of catastrophic historical events such as Trans-Saharan and Trans-Atlantic slavery as well as colonialism and the scramble for Africa, her people have been separated, confused and deprived of essential cultural bonds with each other.
Recently, we have seen that there is a strong desire for a physical and ideological return to Africa and a need for a meaningful connection to the continent that is growing stronger and stronger.
For example, last year tourism to Ghana hit an all time high due to the great support of the diaspora traveling to the continent during “The Year of Return.” This pilgrimage added over $1 billion USD to the local economy and contributed culturally to the “returnees” in an immeasurable way… most were very emotional and just stated “I am home, finally!”
The Solution:
Afrika’s first super application, ::AFRIKANEKT – our goal is to connect Africa like never before through technology.
What is ::AFRIKANEKT?
::AFRIKANEKT connects Afrika to itself and to the global diaspora.
::AFRIKANEKT is Africa’s 1st super application. A closed technological ecosystem that houses several modules that enhance and facilitate societal functions – in short, an all-in-one-app. Some of the focus areas are: Communication, Trade, Education, Health, Agriculture, Tourism, Arts & Entertainment and Financial Technology.

Our goal is to raise £50,000 to see us through our Phase 1 launch, which will be in September 2020 in Kigali, Rwanda.
We have faith in all of you and know that you feel the urgency for this project as do we, so we are setting an ambitious goal of 3 months (December 2020) to reach our goal.
