The Darts started in 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona, with one goal: tour the world with people we like, make great music, and have a great time. So we made two EPs in about six months on our own dime, signed with Dirty Water Records (UK), and started touring the world. We never wanted to come back.
A few months later we made a full-length record for Dirty Water, Me.Ow., and kept touring hard, this time heading all over the USA and going back a bunch of times We still never wanted to come back, and everything was only getting better.
A year later we brought guitarist Meliza Jackson on board and signed with amazing punk label Alternative Tentacles Records run by Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys, Jello Biafra and The Guantanamo School of Medicine). We put out a full-length record, I Like You But Not Like That, and thing happened that we had only dreamed of: performances at Punk Rock Bowling (Las Vegas), Sjock Fest (Denmark), and Hipnosis Fest (Mexico City), a US tour with punk legends The Damned , a song featured on the UK’s uber-popular series Peaky Blinders , and a lot more. Needless to say, we were having the time of our lives.
….and then the plague hit. So we locked down and started writing. A lot. Like, a LOT lot. Time passed, we got Jello’s advice on the songs, we narrowed them down, we rehearsed the hell out of them. We tested a few of them out on a Vox-amps sponsored Instagram mini-session and 50k people got a taste. And now, after a long year of patiently waiting for the world to open back up, this record is ready for you to hear.

And we have Alternative Tentacles ready to release this beauty on vinyl, CD and digital.

*An adapter is the thing that goes on your turntable when the hole in your 45rpm record is large. Usually the adapter is round and flat. But in this case it will be a little turning 3D statute of a Snake Oil Dart girl! This is so one-of-a-kind, you won’t believe your eyes. It is still being designed, to look as good standing on a turntable as it will on your desk or shelf as a collectible.
**Lathe-cut records are individually cut, one at a time and have a lower output and more surface noise than a pressed record. (Might have to adjust tone arm weight and anti-skate control too.) That said, they are still freaking awesome. AND they will arrive in 6-8 weeks - as opposed to the much longer delay with full-length LPs (see below), so you will be the VERY FIRST to have a physical copy of Snake Oil tracks in hand. ***Vinyl pressings are suuuuuuper delayed right now due to COVID, the Suez Canal debacle and a bunch of other uncool acts of god. So unfortunately Snake Oil vinyl orders likely won’t arrive until the end of 2021 at the earliest. BUT winners of this prize will get their signed record direct from the band’s hot little hands the minute we get our stash from the label, without having to wait for any other channels.
