Our house caught on fire & we lost everything

Hi, my name is Myriam Legrand. On April 7, 2023 around 9:30 pm, me & my kids as well as my kid’s father were having a conversation in my room when we heard the fire alarm going off in every unit in the house. And at that time my oldest was sitting by the window when he turned around and noticed there was a huge cloud of smoke coming from the first floor & flames were quickly starting to rise up coming out of one of the units, which we were able to see off the reflection of my kid’s father’s car that was parked in front of one of the 1st floor units.

He then told me & the kids to quickly put some clothes on our toddlers as quick as we can while he started looking for a way out. He 1st ran towards the front door only to find out the flames and heavy smoke were quickly escalating, making their way inside my apartment. He then proceeded to run towards the back door to also realize we were pretty much trapped in. He then decided to go into the toddler's room and kick out the window to make an exit for it. He went ahead and jumped off first to meet us at the bottom to start catching us jumping out the window one by one, trying his best to break our fall using his body.

By the grace of God, we all made it out alive, including all of our neighbors from the first and third floor units, but sadly we lost everything we own and didn’t have time or thought about taking anything at all, with having little time not willing to risk it judging by how fast it was moving in my apartment. We waited until firefighters were able to finally put out the heavy fire, and they were able to recover a couple important documents, but sadly everything else was completely lost and destroyed. We don’t have renters insurance.
