Tumaini is what “Tumaini Trust” needs - Hope in Swahili.
Tumaini Trust was created in 2014 by my friend Talitha, to support students from economically challenged environment access primary , secondary and tertiary education.
Talitha has moved to Kenya in 2015, to take care of the trust and the 100 students sponsored.
The trust operates in the slum of Korogocho, one of the many shanty towns in the city of Nairobi and is home to roughly 200,000 people.
Two years ago I went to Nairobi to meet the two students I am sponsoring Violet & Elias; I walked with them through the busy streets of Korogocho to encounter their families.
I have been many times to Africa and I am always surprised by the dignity, colourfulness and happiness of the people I meet.
So much can be done with soo little....and this is the reason I decided to support Tumaini Trust.
Nairobi has just come out of a 4 month lockdown and the school year has been cancelled. Schools have been closed from March . It is also, becoming more and more difficult for families to meet their daily needs.
What to do?
Tumaini is enabling its secondary students to be taught in a local school for three days a week, by the university students and a meal a day is being provided.
For the last four months Tumaini Trust has also, donated €20/30 monthly per family, to support them in their daily necessities.
Talitha would like to continue doing so up to January and this is why I have decided to create this campaign.
Help us to spread the HOPE.
