February 12, 2020 our baby girl got called home to Heaven. Zoey was born 6 weeks premature via emergency c-section on October 17th, 2016. I had hemorrhaged through the placenta & Zoey had a hypoxic brain injury due to the lack of oxygen. She was born at 14% blood and oxygen levels & needed several blood transfusions over the next few days. Our baby put on the toughest fight for her life right out of the womb. A few days after birth, the NICU had a EEG done on Zozo & they found 3 brain bleeds. Shortly after, our baby was diagnosed with quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy. The cerebral palsy had so many possible unknown effects for when Zoey got bigger. The bigger our baby got, the more pain she'd be in is what we were told. In June of 2017, we found out Zoey was considered legally blind & had cortical vision impairment. In August that same year, she started going hours on end of crying inconsolably & being in pain.  We spent many days at the doctors, running different tests, and trying new medications. Our baby fought a tough battle of pain & we tried so hard to find answers. February 5th, 2020 we finally got approval to get a new EEG done. It felt like we were finally going to get Zoey some relief. One of the battles those with CP face is without being able to bear weight, their bones become very brittle. On Sunday Feb. 9th, we learned how brittle her bones were getting as her femur broke. The next few days, we focused on getting Zoey healed up. Wednesday, February 12th, our baby girl was no longer in pain. We are so incredibly hurt and grieving this unexpected loss. Her sweet contagious smile made so many of our days brighter.
