Zooey's Medical Fund
Donation protected
This fundraiser is for my beautiful little niece, Zooey Marie Merchant. She was born on November 20, 2013 and diagnosed with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome soon after. it is a rare condition that affects the development of bones, soft tissues, and blood vessels. Currently, there is no cure because very few doctors know of the disease and even fewer can help treat it as the cause is unknown. Treatments can help with the symptoms; however, each costs around $10,000 & symptoms will increase as she gets older so she will continue to need treatments.
Zooey's first treatment at Shriner's in Galveston was unsuccessful, so they referred her to another specialist in Boston. But, before she can be seen, they are requesting full body X-rays and MRIs. Her parents have been trying to pay for what they can out of pocket, but have no medical insurance. These funds will go directly to her upcoming X-rays, MRIs, medical treatments and travel expenses.
Despite having to go through all of these treatments & hospital visits, Zooey is such a happy 16-month old with a sweet disposition. She loves playing with the family dogs and adores her big brother, Miles, who keeps her strong and smiling through all of this!
