All donations will go to the Reed family to help with day to day expenses, lodging, travel, etc.
A little about their journey:
Michael was diagnosed with B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in November 13th, 2017. They went down to children’s to the er because they thought he was anemic. He was covered in bruises and he had just had a rough month, seemed like he just couldn’t get a break. His baby sister was born one month and one day before they decided to take him to the doctor. Within a few hours they knew he had leukemia. But they didn’t know any more than that at the time. They were admitted and went straight up stairs on that Monday night. Monday and Tuesday were spent getting blood and platelet transfusions to get him ready to begin treatment on that Wednesday.
The goal was to get him into remission after 29 days. They learned his body was 88% full of leukemia cells, but it hadn’t spread to his brain, spine, chest or private areas. They had “came at a good time”. Michael was in remission within the 29 days. The family has gone to Little Rock every week since. They normally go once a week, a few weeks they have went more than once a week. That will continue for about 3 more months. Then they will enter the phase maintenance. That is where he will go monthly but continue to take chemo via pill at home. His treatment will take 3 years. He won’t be done until November 2020.
The biggest expense is lodging and food. Although they pack most of their snacks for the hotel and try to save as much as they can! Gas, food, & lodging can add up!
They go Monday and If Michael makes counts they will have to stay in Little Rock Monday- Thursday. Two weeks in a row!
