Prayers for Neely

We were sent to Egelston in Atlanta yesterday. Neely has been diagnosed with HLHS with a large VSD. This is a heart defect in which her left ventricle did not completely form. The VSD is a very large hole in her heart. Her heart is enlarged and her lungs are inflamed. Her body had a rough time yesterday during transport. She is on RAM which is a assisted breathing machine(not a ventilator). She is awake,but very tired. Her outcome yesterday was not good. As of this morning, we were given a different surgical approach that makes us hope. This will allow blood to flow more into her body and not to her lungs. We were thinking with her being older that would help her lungs, but it has actually give them more time to get "damaged". At this point she is not stable enough to be but on heart/lung bypass. This procedure today will allow us to bypass that for now, although she will be put on a ventilator and could take some time to come off. She is a fighter! She has made it longer in life, which makes her an extra special case. A group of doctors/surgeons/anesthesia will meet Monday to discuss her case. We could have surgery as early as next week.
