Hi everyone,
On Sunday April 7th, 2019 the apartment complex Shneika was residing in engulfed in flames, displacing 33 families. Due to the immediate evacuation and ensuring the safety of her two year old daughter, Shneika was unable to grab many belongings. The fire burned for over 7 hours and after the damage was accessed Shneika has lost everything due to smoke and water damage, after fully furnishing her apartment in November 2018 when she moved in. Fortunate for life but unfortunately, her unit was uninsured and is now starting from zero.
Shneika is a full-time carpentry student who travels a considerable distance from Châteauguay to Ormstown in order to access the only English school in Quebec. Which is why she initially relocated to Châteauguay, in order to afford her daily commute to school and childcare for her daughter.
The fire has significantly impacted her life and attendance, often missing class due to the increased financial strain of having to travel from a further distance and attending meetings. Since the fire, Shneika has been under a great deal of stress and fears that she will not be able to graduate.
I am asking for support to stabilize Shneika and her young daughter. All money raised will go to aiding with housing cost and replacing all of their belongings. All contributions are welcome and will be greatly appreciated
