Maddie Lee Finch Scholarship

Donation protected
In the first hours of the new year, the life of Maddie Finch was taken in an unspeakable act of violence in her family’s home. The crime sent shockwaves through the small community of La Harpe, IL, and reverberated throughout the state. The devastation this act created continues on as Maddie’s family is left to gather up the pieces of their lives, while seeking justice and peace for their beautiful daughter.

Maddie was 19 years old. A recent graduate of Illini West High School, she was a freshman at Illinois State University seeking an education while planning on spending her life helping children with cancer as a pediatric nurse. While her dreams will never come true, her spirit lives on through those who knew and loved her most. Her family forges on in unimaginable sorrow, and help is needed with every step they take.

In the wake of Maddie’s passing, comfort and sleep has understandably become impossible for the Finch’s, let alone work. A new and uncertain future lies ahead for the Finch family, and any help will alleviate the burden and costs associated with pressing forward and trying to rebuild their lives without Maddie.

Maddie was an officer in the Git R' Done/ SADD Club at Illini West High School where she worked tirelessly as she worked constantly trying to help others in our community. Whether she was working with the young special needs children with the basketball game or playing an active role in our community service day, she was always one of the first to step up and help others. Her huge heart could only be matched by her willingness to step up and help anyone in need.

The Git R' Done/ SADD Club is attempting to establish an annual scholarship to honor Maddie and the impact she had on us all. We are attempting to raise enough funds to keep this scholarship going for many years.  The more money we can raise the more scholarships we can pass on to graduating seniors from our community, as they follow their own dreams.

"She had a gypsy soul and a warrior spirit. She made no apologies for her wild heart. She left normal and regular to explore the outskirts of magical and extraordinary. And she was glorious." -Michelle Rose GilmanMaddie enjoyed helping Dale in the Special Olympics Basketball Game for Git 'R Done/SADD club. This was one of her favorite activities to do involving the organization.
