Firstly, thank you for taking the time to visit our fund me page.
Meet my dad Bruce. If you already know him, you know that my dad is that type of person that asks for very little and finds great pleasure in going out of his way to help others. My dad has been one of my greatest supporters and most patient teachers; without him, I would not be who I am today. I'm telling his story and asking for your help to raise funds to help with his upcoming cancer treatment expenses.
My dad's story all started last year with stomach pain. The cause of this pain could not be found, even after multiple doctor visits, ultrasounds, and testing. Finally, a bile duct stent was inserted and a biopsy was given. The surgeon braced my parents for the worst....that dreaded C word. These tests came back negative and a giant sigh of relief was felt. The pain persisted and his physician re-ordered the tests. This time the results showed a positive for pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately for my dad, multiple prior testings had been misread and the cancer was not caught earlier. This aggressive type of cancer does not respond easily to treatment and is labelled as incurable. Although he remains positive and he will tell you that he "refuses to stop living life just because I have a little problem", doctors have told us that his condition is inoperable because of how deep it has woven within the soft tissue, and entwined within the blood vessels. Surgery would be fatal causing him to bleed to death.
My dad is getting ready to face the greatest battle of his life. He has chosen chemotherapy as a primary treatment and is tentatively scheduled for treatment in Edmonton. If chemotherapy is successful, he has been advised that his life expectancy will at most be doubled to a maximum of 1 year from onset.
I am hoping to raise funds to help cover the cost of treatment not covered by healthcare, holistic alternatives, out of town travel, and support.
