Zeitgeist renovations/improvements
Donation protected
Zeitgeist Multi-disciplinary Arts Center has been bringing alternative art to New Orleans for over 30 years. We are a entirely artist run, non-profit media arts center that presents art house films, music, performance and visual art nightly, We operate without any grants or public funds, but do more programming than any other non-profit art organization in the entire metro area. We operate on admissions, concessions, donations and memberships. So after paying film rentals, artist fees, rent, utilities and other operating expenses little if anything left over for improvements.
Our programming is world renowned and Zeitgeist is considered one of the premiere art house venues in the South, but because of fiscal limitations our physical space and projection and sound equipment has not always lived up to the level of our programming. We are tired of being "shabby sheik". It's time to upgrade.
We are currently trying to raise funds to make some much needed improvements to our space. If you appreciate Zeitgeist and all we have contributed to the cultural climate of New Orleans for the past 30 years and are in a position to make a donation, it will be greatly appreciated and used to greatly improve the seating, projection, visibility and comfort of our space at 1618 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.
Zeitgeist improvements:
wider projection screen
brighter (6000 lumen or higher) HDMI projector
3 new ceiling fans with lights (fan and lights on dimmers) from the center beam to aid our AC during hotter months
6 new matching couches for the front of our seating area
16 small cabaret tables
75 new matching theater chairs
new light fixtures for facade that illuminate our poster display
new lights for signs to increase our visibility at night
new lights for window display
extend the AC duct to better distribute the air throughout the space
renovate the bathrooms which have become riddled with graffiti by wallpapering the walls with old movie posters and new curtains.
build wrap around and shelves for box office and concessions
Zeitgeist has a long experience of doing a lot with very little money, so anything you donate will go a long way in improving our space.
