ZBCS Move

ZBCS is a non profit organization that provides school-aged children from low-income families in the Zion and Benton townships and surrounding communities with quality dental care.  ZBCS does this by being the only dental clinic in the local area that accepts children with Medicaid or those who have no dental insurance at all. ZBCS provides services by hiring only quality, licensed dental healthcare providers (dentists, hygienists, and assistants).

ZBCS has been in existence for over 65 years. It began through the efforts of a local school nurse, Olive Lind, who saw the dental needs of children from families who could not afford to pay. A very small dental clinic was set up at an elementary school in Zion and saw hundreds of patients each year within the school day. In 2005, when it was obvious the needs had outgrown the space, ZBCS moved to a rented office space at the old Zion high school building in town. 

In February 2017, we were told that our building we are located in will be torn down in July 2018. This was devastating news for us. 

In October 2017, a building owner in Zion donated a 1700 square foot building to ZBCS. We are very excited to be proud owners of this building which is located on 27th Street just west of Sheridan Road in downtown Zion. Being on the PACE bus route, it will be easily accessible to families in the surrounding communities to access.

ZBCS is asking for help in renovating this building into a dental clinic. Projected costs are estimated at about $125,000. We are writing grants and seeking donations over and above our usual fundraising efforts. With this new opportunity for ZBCS, we hope to be serving children for many more years to come.
