Zachary Laier, of Omaha, NE, passed away suddenly Saturday morning, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 28. Zach was born and raised in Simi Valley, CA. He attended college at University of Nebraska Lincoln and most recently at Omaha Metro College. Zach worked a variety of service oriented jobs to pay his way through college on his way to becoming a meteorologist. He loved chasing storms! Zach had a knack for discovering roads less traveled and enjoyed impromptu road trips with a freshly made playlist and camera in hand. He made it a point to create memories with his friends and family.
Zach was genuine, he was who he appeared to be in all situations. Zach was humble and would give all he had to help others. He was a true friend. Zach never made his own needs a priority over others’. Zach had an infectious belly laugh, often resulting in tears pouring down his cheeks. Zach was the life of the party. His zealousness for life, storytelling and adventurous spirit made him a magnet for fun and he always had a circle of friends around him.
Recently, when Zach collapsed at home he was emergently transported via a squad car to the hospital and life-flighted once stabilized to a cardiac hospital. Zach was admitted to ICU and underwent expensive life saving measures without improvement, he died 48 hours later. Because of his part time work, Zach didn't have healthcare insurance. Consequently, to help with his extensive medical bill and funeral expenses we are asking for donations for a family who has tragically lost a son/grandson/brother far too soon.
Thank you to everyone who loved Zach as much as we did. We remember Zach with every earthquake, every lightning strike, every storm that rolls overhead. We are reminded of the powerful love and happiness he created in the short 28 years he was here with us.
