Zach's Fight Against Leiomyosarcoma

A few weeks ago Zach's parents (my sister Holly, and brother-in-law Ryane) took him to the doctor after they noticed a large lump on his leg. The following days were filled with X-Rays, MRI scans, CT scans, PET scans, bloodwork, and finally, a surgery to biopsy and identify the tumor.
The biopsy was sent to St. Jude's and later diagnosed as Leiomyosarcoma. A cancer commonly found in adults but rarely found in children. News that no parent should ever have to receive. Zach's entire family was devastated. His parents were stunned- their daughter, Chloe, was stillborn just a few months ago and now their oldest was facing cancer head-on.

A little bit about Zach- he's an active, intelligent and creative 10 year old kid. He loves to read, play with his little brother, illustrate comic books, and knows everything about dinosaurs! He worries about everyone around him and never wants anyone to feel left out- ever since he was little, we would say that his heart is bigger than his body. He's just a really, really great kid.
Zach has a long road in front of him. We hope to have the tumor completely removed very soon. After the tumor is out we will have a better idea of what the future looks like in regards to chemo/ radiation.
