Hello, my name is Sonja from Seattle, WA and I am supporting the worldwide effort to help Sofija make her first step. All funds collected we will give to beneficiary Sofijas father Stefan Marculjevic. They are coming to UCLA hospital on August 20th .2020 for Spfijas treatment. They will stay in America for 4 months. Dear world, my name is Sofija. I was born as a healthy baby and given an apgar score of 9. During the first month I was like all other babies, getting to know the new life and all the treasures it gave me beside my mom and dad.
Only two months later, my problems started. I couldn’t move my arms anymore, I couldn’t reach for my rattle. Suddenly I couldn’t even touch my moms’s and dad’s face when they tried to cuddle with me. Mommy and daddy were worried sick and took me to the doctors.
There, I was diagnosed with a rare and lethal neuro-muscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type I. Even with my treatment I have received here in Serbia since the young age of 1 years old I still cannot I can’t keep my head up, I can’t crawl, turn around or move my legs. I can’t enjoy my childhood as other babies.
My only chance for progress and recovery is treatment abroad. This treatment costs $2.1 million dollars and a trip to the United States to receive it. My mom and dad are struggling to rise the money, so I am asking for your help. I’m asking all kind people of good will to help me have a healthy and happy childhood with my parents by my side. Thank you for your generosity!
