Help ROCky fight Cystic Fibrosis

Donation protected
Roland O'Neil Cannon AKA ROCky's story began when he was at 34 weeks gestation. I went into labor with him early and when he was born he was limp, completely purple, and had a very distended stomach. The wonderful medical staff worked to revive him a couple of times and pumped his stomach that was full of meconium stained bile in order to relieve pressure on his already compromised lungs before taking him to Cook Children's NICU. At only 5 days old he had major surgery to repair a meconium ileaus and an ileal atresia that caused a perforation of his small intestines and a meconium cyst on his bladder. He had an ostomy placed so his intestines could heal until he was 6 months old. The meconium ileus lead them to test him for Cystic Fibrosis. On May 26th we found out that he tested positive for Double Delta F508 Cystic Fibrosis mutation. They started him on the medication that will help him absorb nutrition from my breastmilk and everything seemed to be working well. It looked like we were going to go home and come back when he was 6 months old to do his ostomy reversal but then he started dumping pure breastmilk and losing weight drastically. The Drs. decided to go ahead and do the surgery to reverse his ostemy so that he would have the rest of his intestines to absorb the nutrition he needed to survive. After the reversal he was put back on his medication but was struggling to gain weight. We put him on a special formula along with breastmilk to help him gain. Now, after spending 2 months (55 total days) in the NICU he is gaining weight, thriving and finally home with his family. Praise God!!!  However, his (our) struggle isn't over. Our prayer is that we can keep him healthy so he doesn't end up back in the hospital. We started this Go Fund Me because of the medical bills that are starting to pile up (even with insurance our deductible is really high and there are many things that our insurance didn't/doesn't cover), the many things we had to purchase that we wouldn't have if he didn't have this condition, and we also want to bring awareness, start fund raising to help others who have been put in the same situation, and to help find a cure. We would appreciate your prayers and, if you can afford it, please consider donating to our cause.  Thank You and God Bless!
