Bill’s Cancer Fight
Donation protected
On June 12th, which also happens to be his birthday, my dad , William Olson, went to the emergency room in Bowman for passing large amounts of blood. While in the ER he continued to lose large amounts of blood. He ended up having a blood transfusion and was air lifted to Bismarck for further tests and treatment. We were told the next day that he had cancer. The next 4 weeks we were left with lots of unanswered questions while the doctors in Bismarck took their sweet time getting the proper tests completed to diagnose the type and stage of his cancer. On July 19th, it was confirmed that he has Stage 1 rectal cancer. He will begin his chemo therapy and radiation treatments on August 7th. He will have chemo and radiation for 5.5-6 weeks. Then he has to wait 4-6 weeks to heal. After that he will have surgery to remove whatever mass is left. With the possibility of another round of chemo and radiation to follow the surgery. He has been unable to work since June 12th, and will not be able to go back to work until after his treatments and surgery have been completed. All in all he will be out of work for approximately 5-6 months. With medical bills, travel expenses, and only 1 income. My parents could use any donation you are able to spare.
