Love of Music

Donation protected
Everyone has a gift to share.  Since before I could fully speak, mine has been music.

I'm an LA-based, indie-artist who wants the chance to share my music with you.

There is something profoundly spiritual in music.  It connects us beyond language, culture, race, gender or any means of separation.
To imagine a song into life and be able to make it into a reality to share with the world is as close to miraculous as you can get.  (Aside from childbirth: the miracle of life always wins.)

Since before I was stringing together sentences, I was singing.  In choirs, quartets, musicals or in bands, singing has been the motivating force throughout my life.
There really is no other force out there which connects us the way music does.
If you're like me, throughout hardship, joy and ordinary day to day living, it's music that sees us through.

My style mixes folk, blues and jazz, with topics including love, nature, death, romance, Shakespeare and philosophy, booze and minor car accidents (in no relation).
My producer likens my style to a blend of Amy Winehouse and Fiona Apple.

I've written a modest mountain of songs and want to share the best ones.  To do so properly takes collaboration, time, funding and passion from all involved.

I've found myself in the wonderful company of an amazing producer/musician and together, we're readying my music for release.
At the moment, we're working on a single, but the more love you give, the more music we can share.
The process incorporates:
producing
musicians
studio time
mixing
mastering
digital-release
PR

Each song requires a varying amount of musicians and time.  For instance, the song we're currently producing is full on, including drums, guitar, vocals, grand piano, organ and strings.  (I can't wait to share this anthemic folk piece with you! It gives me chills every time.)  Here's a glimpse of our work so far:

Pre-production (what you glimpsed in the video) takes approximately two months (entailing deciding upon and layering all the different tracks of the song), then recording is about a week, followed by mixing/mastering which is about another two months.  Suffice it to say, the whole endeavor of a single song is time consuming.  However, if there are funds enough to do several songs in one recording session, then a lot more can get done in that span of time.
Once a song is finished, I'll release it on the plethora of digital platforms for your downloading/streaming enjoyment.  Then BAM, it's yours!

The fundraising goal I've listed is just a place holder.  Reaching $8,000 would enable me to release an EP of 4 songs.  Exceeding that amount will go toward creating a full album.  Every song costs a different amount; the basic rate of a single song (with just a four piece band) is approximately $2,000.
My hope is to produce an album's worth of songs at the highest quality possible, with enough funds to include some PR.

In lieu of doing a time-limiting campaign, I plan for this to be ongoing.  The more love you give, the more music I can share.
So many people have told me they want to contribute in one way or another, and since many live too far away to make it to my live shows, this platform can be a wonderful way to stay involved and help keep the music flowing.
I'll post photo and video updates along the way to show the progress you're helping to create!

HERE'S WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU CONTRIBUTE:

- access to each song you help to release ($5 +)
- the option to offer advise on things like cover art and song order ($25 +)
- the chance to help me choose which songs to next produce ($50 +)
- a personal Skype chat where you get the chance to ask about the songs and their back stories ($100 +)
- the chance to book a live performance at your place (distance permitting) ($500 +)

Thank you for reading this far, for caring, for any and all contributions you make.
We're all here together, to share and connect, and if music can bring us just a bit closer, then any bit helps.

UPDATE:

Thanks to some of your donations (not seen due to some hitches with the site), I've been able to get things rolling!  Here's a sexy sneak peek behind the doors of Studio 637, where my single, Day Will Come is taking form:

AND WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

I nabbed some time in the studio to record 7 scratch tracks (the bones of the song on guitar w/ vocals)... this means I'm in the embryonic phase of making my first album!
Here's a glimpse of scratching:

Thank you all for your support and shares!  Your contributions help keep my music alive  xoxo
Can't wait to share these tracks with you!!!
