please, help my son

My name is Elisa, I am a single mother with two children, Giorgia, who is now 14, and Jody an 18-year-old young man and I need your help to support my son in college.

The three of us moved to Pittsburgh, from Italy, seven years ago. We came to the US under a medical visa (B2) to help the survival of my daughter, who was only 7 years old at the time. A little girl suffering from a rare intestinal syndrome (Berdon's syndrome), that required a transplant as well as continuous medical attention. When she was born, and her devastating health issue was discovered, doctors in Italy thought she would not be able to survive her second birthday.

The Italian health system allowed and has been paying, for her to be treated in Pittsburgh, as there are no children's transplant facilities at the level of the ones in Pittsburgh at UPMC. Giorgia has been followed by a team of doctors and surgeons at the Children's Hospital ever since. Three years ago they transplanted her entire intestine, but she still needs medical attention for a number of related conditions. She needs to be connected to IV pumps for several hours every day and will have to go through other important surgical procedures.

My son Jody has always been helping me and his sister during these difficult years, still going to school and graduating from high school last May 2022. He is ready to go to college now, and he has been admitted to a University to pursue a degree with a major in Psychology. But now, after years of sacrifices, often living in hospitals to be close to or help his little sister, I don't have the economic means to let him go to college.

The B2 medical visa, under which we came over, does not allow one to hold an SSN, a driver's license, buy a car or work in the US. Thus I wasn't able to work in Pittsburgh. We managed to live here thanks to the help of the Italian government and of a non-profit association that receives donations in the name of my daughter. Unfortunately, after so many years in the USA, fundraising has died out and now we are in economic difficulty.

I would like to fulfill Jody's desire to study to become a psychologist. But I can't do it alone. I need help to give him a chance to study and not give up his life. Writing this, I hope to be able to raise $40,000 corresponding to two years of college tuition.

My great thanks to all of you who can donate, even a little, to help
