Donor Recipient Expenses
Donation protected
My husband had a double lung transplant April 8th. He had fibrosis caused by an auto immune disorder. While the transplant saved his life there is no cure for the immune system. It involves the muscles in his arms and legs attacking them as if they don't belong. This in turn caused the lung disease. It is our last chance to add years and quality of life for him. He couldn't walk after surgery due to the problem of him not being able to wake up for almost 3 weeks. However Ohio State has done miracles with him. He can use a cane now and is getting better each day. He was in the hospital almost 3 months. We have been home for just 4 weeks now. He is only 52 and disability and retirement are under half of what he was earning. I am his primary care giver since he can't be exposed to home health care due to them seeing other patients. They've trained me to do wound care, shots, etc. They are wonderful! However we live about 90 minutes from there and this has caused quite a financial burden on us with all of the expenses involved. We would appreciate any help with them and have been praying for that. I just found out about go fund me. We are also praying for the donor's family we can't imagine what they are going through. We are not asking for a hand out, but a hand up. Bless all who can help.
Sincerely,
Becky Dozer
