Hello!
We are the Port Angeles High School Band Boosters (not affiliated with the high school or the school district) - a nonprofit entity that supports our high school bands, providing assistance to students for instruments, uniforms, travel and perhaps most importantly, scholarships for qualifying seniors.
Like many in our community, we have struggled under COVID shut downs. We have been unable to hold our traditional fundraisers but the need for scholarships to our graduating seniors has not diminished. Last year we scraped the bottom of our bank account to fulfill $6,000 in scholarship awards to 14 qualifying seniors. We had no idea that almost a year later we would still be unable to fund-raise in our tried-and-true manner.
Sadly, COVID wasn't our only bad news in 2020. During a routine audit of our bank accounts we discovered we had suffered a massive embezzlement. We have worked closely with the police and the person who committed the crime has been charged. Restitution payments will be required, but they may be very slow. Meanwhile, we are coming up on scholarship award season again with very limited funds remaining to award to our deserving seniors.
We're reaching out to our small but wonderful community to ask if you might consider helping to fund our scholarships.
