Carla's Road to Recovery

Beschermde donatie
The family of Carla Henry would like to thank the public for the outpouring of love and support. Unfortunately, Carla passed early on the morning on May 10th. We continue to ask for your prayers and support as we try to come to grip with this tremendous loss. If you wish to still donate towards her outstanding medical bills and funeral arrangements please free to do so. The Gofundme account will stay active until the end of May. Thanks again for you outpouring love and generosity! Carla Henry is a fun loving, outgoing and caring person who brought light to any space she entered. She is our daughter, friend, cousin, niece and sister !!! Carla was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mount St. John’s Medical Center (MSJMC), Antigua  on February 1st 2019, where she was diagnosed with Viral Encephalitis (inflammation of the brain). She was later transferred via Air Ambulance to the University Hospital of the West Indies  (UHWI), ICU in Kingston, Jamaica on February 9th,  2019.   Carla suffered several complications, including seizures, difficulty breathing and the subsequent collapse of her lungs, which resulted in her being in a medically induced coma and requiring a ventilator to assist with her breathing. Carla spent a total of 11 weeks hospitalized in Jamaica, and has now been transferred to a Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center in Kingston, Jamaica. She will need several months to a year of ongoing  medical treatment and rehabilitation before she is able to return home to Antigua. At this point in her recovery, Carla is unable to walk, swallow, has gaps in her memory, requires speech and cognitive rehabilitation therapy. To aid in her recovery, her family and loved ones are asking for contributions to help offset the cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and for her long-term care. Our goal is to raise $40,000 USD for her overall care. Your kind assistance would help the family continue to provide for Carla’s emotional, physical and medical needs during this difficult time in her life.  Any amount that you are able to donate will go a long way towards her full recovery. My name is  Durson Joseph and i'm Carla's older brother from Antigua but I currently reside in Boston.  All funds for this drive will be  used to pay for her portion of her medical cost and the other portion for  3 months at an inpatient rehabilitation center.  Payments for her care will be wired to the medical and rehab facility on a weekly and by-weekly basis. Thank You In Advance For Your Generosity!
