Lacey’s journey

My name is Julie Palmer. I am the grandmother of Lacey Roberts.

I am setting up this page to try and help my Daughter & Son in law Support Lacey on her swim journey.

Competition in the swimming world can take you from your home town to international competitions. All expenses to be paid by competitors/families.

Lacey has competed from Plymouth to Iceland, Spain, Luxembourg & Lisbon.

Lacey started swimming at 9 years old and has grown and progressed ever since.

Lacey took part in her first swimming gala at 9 years old and has since competed at Country. Regional and British level.

Lacey trains in the water approximately 22 hours a week and trains 2 hours a week in the gym.

Lacey has been selected to compete as part of the Devon & South west swim team. Lacey has been selected as part of the South west Regional camp, Where selected athletes take part in work shops & training programmes being coached by coaches from other clubs. Gaining experience & techniques from an experienced team.

Most recently Lacey has taken part in a 4 day training camp at Luxembourg University as part of the Swim England national youth development programme. A camp that delivered an intense training programme. Grueling sessions, Land training, food management. Whilst being away from home and living alongside other athletes selected on the programme.

Lacey during 2023 competed in Iceland & Spain. Alongside away gala's in sheffield. London. Cardiff, Street & many more.

2024 has so far taken Lacey to Luxembourg & Lisbon.

Lisbon a gala selection to represent Swim England as part of the South west swim team. The experience of travelling abroad as part of a team. With coaching staff & team mates she had never swam alongside. An experience which drives the desire to compete hard to continue to make selections at this level.

Lacey's latest and most exciting news to date. Lacey has qualified for the Olympic trails 2024 and will compete in London in April 24.

As a family we support Lacey's mum & dad as much as we can. However the finance's are growing gala by gala and I am seeking some support to try and support Lacey on achieving the very best she can. Lacey is driven, determined & passionate about her goals & although I can't help her in the water. I can support and offer as much help to support her financially to achieve her dreams.
