Help David pay for his life changing operation

My name is David, I Live in a small village called Auchterarder in Scotland. At the age of 29 I Became an above knee amputee after a horrific road traffic accident in 1994. It was not my fault, but my wife, children and I live with the consequences.

After the collision I suffered thirteen compound fractures in my right leg and my foot was never found, I had a broken pelvis, lower arm in two places and my elbow joint was completely shattered. My elbow was rebuilt using 6 plates and 46 screws which extend in to my upper and lower arm, leaving me with 12% movement. I died twice on the operating table, I feel very lucky I survived.

My leg was amputated leaving only 3 inches of my bone. I have been able to walk in a fashion with the use of a prosthetic leg but its painful.

The pain goes straight through my stump, good knee and into my back. Every single day the leg socket rubs against my skin, it has caused open ulcers at the top where my socket meets my leg. This makes it unbearably painful to Stand up, sit down, Sit to Drive, and walk.

It is now so painful that I must take opioid pain killers and I can only wear my leg for very short periods of time.

I need a specialist operation called osteointegration which can be performed in Holland but not in the UK Due to only having 3 inches of bone left.

The procedure is done by putting a metal rod into my leg bone, then the metal rod would protrude through my skin and attach to a prosthetic leg.

This would eliminate the use of a socket which would mean, no more rubbing, no more ulcerated wounds and no more Pain.

This operation would allow me to walk pain free for the first time in 29 years and for the rest of my life. Unfortunately, this comes at a cost which would include the surgery itself, flights, accommodation, prosthetic leg, aftercare, and my rehabilitation which amounts to approximately £102,500.

After my accident I met my wife of 26 years and we have had two beautiful boys. However, there are many things I could not do with my children, simple pleasures like a walk in the woods, a walk on the beach or kicking a ball round the garden.

I am asking for help now because I want to change my life. It is my dream to do some, if not all the things with my future grandchildren that I could not do with my boys.
