YWAM Kona Support Fund!

The 16-year-old version of myself would have never even given thought to moving away from home, let alone across the world. But here I am, telling you that on January 3, 2019, less than a month after I become a graduate of Calvin College, I am headed to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii for Youth With A Mission’s Discipleship Training School. Yep, you heard that right. I’m packing up all the essentials in a 50 liter backpack to go somewhere I’ve never visited, somewhere that I don’t know not even one other human, somewhere that I’m sharing a room with ten girls. You’re probably attempting to push away that thought that’s saying I’m crazy. I get it. I occasionally have to do the same. However, God is so cool, so trustworthy, such a peace-giver and protector. I’m not worried. Instead, I’m thrilled that He is entrusting me to bring His precious Word and Love to unreached people that are so thirsty for what He provides.

First attending church consistently at age 16, I immediately fell in love with the aspect of community found at my little country church. But let’s get something straight, this wasn’t just any community. It was a community full of disciples chasing after their Maker, giving every effort to make Him known, as well as leading others into a life of doing the same. Here, the foundation was set for all my future endeavors God would take me on.  My desire to make this unparalleled community not just a Sunday activity, but a vocation began to rapidly grow.

So, that’s how this upcoming adventure began.

Now, for a bit of the logistics. The YWAM Discipleship Training School is a total of six months long and maintains three focuses throughout the school: Evangelism, Training, and Mercy Ministries. The first half of DTS will consist of staying in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii while participating in full-time classroom training. The second half is the outreach portion, which, in short, is putting the classroom training into action in another country (that I will know when the time gets closer). As you can imagine, this adventure is quite costly. The lecture phase cost is $3,995. The outreach phase is between $4,000 and $6,000 depending on the location.

Like I said, God totally provides and He uses His people as a vessel to do so. So, here’s where you come in. I’m asking you to partner with me on this journey. There’s two ways you can do so. The first is through prayer. It has taken a great amount of prayer for me to say “yes” to this opportunity and I know my time in Kona and across the world isn’t going to be easy. Partnering with me in prayer for not only my well-being, but the way God will use me, as well as the works He will do is so crucial. The second is by making a financial gift. Please know that whether its option one or two, your contribution is immensely valuable to me and my experience at YWAM Kona.

I am looking forward to seeing how God uses me and helps me to grow through this opportunity. When I arrive to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in January, be sure to keep updated through my blog posts and social media outlets. I cannot wait to share the crazy cool work I trust God will do.

Many blessings,
