YWAM - Justice 180

Hello my friends, I’d like to tell you about something exciting coming up in my life. I was supposed to be going to Uni this September after being accepted to study psychology, but it seems that God has other plans for me. At a recent conference, God clearly laid it on my heart  to go into mission with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) and I believe that this is for two reasons. Firstly, I feel God is calling me to go deeper with him before I commit to anything new in my life, and secondly, he is calling out the passion I have for injustice. Three years ago, I was prophesied over that I would work for God against injustice and I feel that this prophecy is now coming to pass. So I decided to act on what God was telling me and applied to YWAM.

What is a YWAM?

YWAM (Youth With A Mission) is a global missions organisation that has bases in many different countries, that train and disciple people to go into the mission field. Each base has a different focus, allowing students to discover their gifts and purpose while going deeper in their walk with God as they study and learn the bible for themselves, and in doing so, equipping them to explain and share the bible with others. For more info on YWAM, there is lots on Google and I’m happy to chat to you about it more.

What will I be doing?

I’ve been offered a placement at a base in Los Angeles in September for 5 months. This base (injustice 180) works with charities and organisations to fight human trafficking within the local area, while preparing us to travel to another country to work with local missions to help them to fight injustice and human trafficking and support those affected by it.

For the first 3 months I will be based in Los Angeles. This is the lecture phase- we will be learning more about the bible and I will spend time deepening my faith and preparing to use what I learn for the outreach phase. Then for the outreach phase, lasting two months, we will be moving to another country, likely to be Ecuador, Thailand or the Philippines for evangelistic, humanitarian and mercy missions. This will involve me and the team going into red-light districts where we will provide both preventative intervention around human trafficking and aftercare to children, women and men being exploited in these red-light districts, as well as giving hope through street evangelism. The mercy missions will involve visiting both leper colonies and homeless shelters to provide humanitarian care and hope, wherever we can.

I am so excited for this opportunity where I believe God will use me to come alongside vulnerable people, and speak hope and encouragement into their lives while being able to show them that they are loved and valuable.

How can you help?

The cost of the lecture phase is $3700. The amount covers my room and board, tuition, books and school related transportation costs. The outreach is $4300. This will include transport, food, accommodation and general costs of the ministry whilst we are there.

I’ve already raised some of the funds towards my DTS, originally hoping to leave the UK in January 2023. This would have allowed me time to raise more funds by working up until my departure. However, I felt God specifically laid this DTS connected to injustice and human trafficking on my heart and it starts in only 6 weeks! So I am now relying fully on God to provide the funds I need to get me there.

I of course understand not everyone will be in a position to contribute financially, but I would be so grateful if you could prayerfully consider partnering with me in this, and investing in what God is doing in and through me. Other ways you can support me are through prayer and encouragement as I will really need this, both during fundraising and the DTS itself, with all the challenges that it will surely provide while  I am away.

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Micah 6:8

If you have any questions please do send me a message, I’d be happy to try my best to answer them.

Thank you for taking time to read this, I am so grateful for your support.

Appreciate if you could share

Love, Amelia
