Help the Little Islands

Big Love for the Small Islands

We’ve all witnessed the devastation in the Bahamas and hope there will be plenty of support for the people there. Today there are no functioning airports or seaports to receive supplies. There are no roads. There are over 700 islands in the Bahamas, some with populations of less than 250 people. And I don’t think “hoping” is enough right now.

I have struggled with how I can help and remember that Mother Theresa once said, “We cannot all do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” I have a small boat – big enough to make the trip from FL to the Bahamas, but small enough to navigate to small islands. And small is where I can focus.

I have a friend/contact in Green Turtle Cay who is considered a Matriarch of the community. I’m told that today they have enough water, but beyond that, they are in need of all basic survival supplies. We are asking for cash donations to purchase the following and/or new items from the list below:

·        Survival Food/High Protein energy foods

·        Tarps

·        Tents

·        Chain Saws/sharpening tools

·        2-stroke Oil

·        Bar Oil

·        Work Gloves

·        Water Filters

·        Small Generators

·        Camp Stoves/propane

·        Solar or propane lanterns

As soon as the seas subside (hopefully by Friday, Sept 6), I will load my boat and head across to meet her. I am survival trained as a Marine officer and Harrier Pilot and will be joined by a friend who is a retired Army officer and Green Beret. I’m hopeful that by the time we make a first trip to the Cays to drop supplies, bigger ships/planes will be able to start getting in with more supplies. We plan to then shuttle supplies from the larger areas to other cays.

This trip will be funded by my wife and I personally, our company, Faceplant Dreams and the donations you can share today. There’s no time to create a 501c3. Every dollar you donate (and more) will go directly to support the people who need it now. Any leftover funds will be donated to the Red Cross and all receipts and bank statements will be made public.

Mother Teresa also said, “Together we can do great things.” I feel a need to at least try and will appreciate your help. Please visit and donate cash.  If you’re in the Tampa area and can donate any of the physical items on the list, please email me at [email redacted] or call me at [phone redacted] to arrange to drop it to us.
