A song for Lifeline Inishowen

Donation protected
Help the Inishowen Gospel Choir to raise much needed funds for Lifeline Inishowen (Domestic Violence Service) in the current challenging circumstances of COVID-19. In return for your kind donations, the choir are producing a 'Lockdown' recording and video of the beautiful and apt song by Stevie Wonder 'Love's in need of love today'

As we all know this virus is having devastating effects in all aspects of community life and one awful reality is that cases of domestic abuse are on the rise within the lockdown. All funds raised will go to support Lifeline in their essential work providing a community response in Inishowen, giving valuable support to women and children who are experiencing Domestic Violence: physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse in their own homes.

Prior to these strange days the Inishowen Gospel Choir were busy learning the beautiful song 'Love's in Need of Love Today' to perform at The City of Derry's Big band and Jazz Festival with local Jazz singer Victoria Geelan. Due to the pandemic, this festival has now been cancelled - but we decided to put our work to good use and record the song anyway in our current Isolation! It seemed like such a relevant song for our current circumstances. We wanted to bring both people together through the power of music and also try and help those that are most in need in the current crisis. As a local charity who do such amazing work with little financial support we felt that Lifeline Inishowen were the right organisation to direct any funds we might raise to.

We now have a choir of over 30 people taking part, including past and present members, plus 4 amazing vocalists: Victoria Geelan (who we were originally going to sing the song with in Derry's very own Sandinos Bar for the Jazz Festival), Mirenda Rosenberg (US, now based in Letterkenny), Amanda St John (Belfast) and last but not least we are delighted to have Ireland's very own Liam Ó Maonlaí on board.

We will be creating the track and video in the next couple of weeks.....Choir members have already been busy recording their parts at home. We know that these are difficult times for people financially as well as in many other areas, but if you have a few euro to spare to help support Lifeline's essential work we would be delighted!

We hope to lift your spirits in true Inishowen Gospel fashion soon with our 'Lockdown choir!' so please watch this space!

Thank you in advance we are ever so grateful!

Stay safe and be kind to each other and yourself.
Lots of Love
