On July 31, 2018, Lucky Hammack was diagnosed with (GBS) Guillain-Barré Syndrome .  By now maybe you’ve heard, but if you haven’t we explain more below.

Since we’re not in the medical field, we can help in the next best way.  Donations, Donations!

GBS.  This is a rare disease, where his immune system attacked his nerves.  It started with some weakness in his arms and legs, and within a couple days he became fully paralyzed.  His nerve linings were destroyed, not allowing his brain to get signals to his muscles anymore.   To this day he has no movement except that he can move his head.  He has remained awake and aware, and has kept his ability to hear and see since this all started.  He was put on a ventilator around week 2 and required a tracheotomy to help with his breathing.

Lucky has two children, Mia and Cody.  Mia is in college and Cody is a Senior in High School.  Nothing about this is or will be easy, but not being able to spend time with his children…to cook for them… or see his son play hockey has been extremely difficult on him mentally.

We need to help lift his SPIRITS!

The exact cause of GBS is unknown.  He has gone through two rounds of plasmapherisis, and at this point the Neurologist said that his body needs to start healing itself.  Lucky remains in the Hospital until further notice, and his overall recovery can last a couple of years.

This humble guy we know, this Dad, Brother, Family Member, Friend & Colleague has a very long, slow, painful road of rehabilitation ahead of him.  He must undergo extensive physical therapy and other treatments to get his movement back, to get his life back.

This is a financial hardship.  The small things have becoming giant obstacles in Lucky’s life, and will continue to be that way for a long time.   Just a cell phone bill or getting things for his kids are near impossible now, not to mention the magnitude of medical bills he will be facing.  This goes way beyond that too.. he will need so much ongoing support and assistance to get back on his feet (literally, figuratively) when it’s time.

Let’s show Lucky support from ALL around!  Please do what you can.  Every single thing helps.  We sincerely do mean that.  Thank you, everyone.  We will keep you updated.  Let’s help get Lucky back!
