Ruth Richin's Medical Bills
Don protégé
Hi everyone,
My name is Meghan and I am Ruth's oldest daughter of the five us. I am 27, Brady is 22, Colbey is 20, Blair is 18 and Margo is 14. Like most girls, my mom is my hero and I have looked up to her my whole life. Besides always providing an excellent example of how to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, my mom has always been a strong example of perseverance and positive attitude. Whenever any one of my siblings or myself has a struggle she is there to guide us and encourage us!
On Tuesday, December 22nd, at just about 6pm, I was tidying up my desk preparing to leave work for the day. My phone rang and it was my brother, Brady. He was calling to let me know that Mom had just been taken to the emergency room because she felt weak while teaching her Tabata class and she was having some weakness on her right side so they were running some tests to see what is going on. I rushed out of work and headed home. I live in Northern Virginia, so throughout the 2.5 hour drive back to Salisbury, I continued to call Brady and get updates on how Mom was doing. Once I got there, Mom had been admitted to ICU because she had had a stroke. I was in complete and total shock. My mom was by far the most healthy person I knew. Fortunately, when it had happened it was recognized quickly as a stroke and she was immediately given medical attention. Mom spent 2 days in the ICU and was then moved to a lower level of care. After being at PRMC for 6 days, Mom was transferred to HealthSouth Rehab.
We are all more than confident than my mom is going to return to 100% and, knowing my mom, even stronger than ever. My brothers, sister and I are so grateful for the support we have received from all of our friends and family.
Thank you,
Meghan
Above is a letter from Ruth's daughter Meghan. This news has shocked all of us. Her son, Colbey just had scheduled surgery today on a torn meniscus. When I talked with Ruth, she was so upset, that she couldn't be with him during his surgery. Thankfully, Colbey had family and friends with him and he is home recovering. Ruth will be at HealthSouth for at least a week and at this time, I am not sure when she will be returning to work. We have started this gofundme account to help out with Ruth's medical bills and everyday living expenses until she is back on her feet.
The family thanks you for any help and support you can offer. We will keep everyone updated through this page.
Thank you for your support!
