Youth Mission Trip to Japan

Dear Friends and Family,
We are excited to share that our Wesley United Methodist Church youth group is planning a Cultural and Justice Education Trip to Japan from July 9-21, 2017! A full itinerary is planned to experience the customs and traditions of Japan and to learn about justice issues confronting present day society.
We will have an opportunity to visit Kyoai Gakuen Senior High School (Maebashi, Gunma) and have a homestay experience with a family. We will visit shrines and temples, enjoy cultural arts through a daruma painting and chopstick making workshops, and taste the delicious food Japan has to offer!
We will have an opportunity to engage in Christian church ministry programs: make meals and distribute them to the homeless, learn about the Kodomo Shokudo program-meals for children who struggle with hunger and poverty, engage in discussions about radiation concerns and talk to people who once lived in Fukushima (the area of the meltdown of the TEPCO nuclear power plant following the Tohoku earthquake and tsuami of 2011) meet with staff of the “Center for Minoirty Issues and Missions” and lay 1000 cranes at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.
Would you consider partnering with us by offering your prayers and/or financial donation? Your donation will help support our travel expenses and a percentage of the donations will be presented to the following chaities and organizations we are working with.
· Waseida Hoshin (service organization ) homeless meal program
· KCCJ: Korean Christian Church in Japan-Kodomo Shokudo-Kawasaki (“children’s cafeteria” -
(meal program for children living in poverty)
· Radiation Information Center in Aizuwatkamatsu (volunteer organization created to support the community and share information to local affected residents following the Tohouku earthquake/tsunami and continued concerns of radiation thereafter.
· Center for Minority Issues and Missions-Christian organization whose call is to overcome the spread of intolerance and discrimination against minorities in Japan and around the world.
We appreciate your support! This trip is an opportunity of a lifetime! The team of 16 youth and 6 adult chaperones, total group of 22, is excited to begin an adventure of travel, culture, service, education and justice.
