GO FUND ME - YOUTH LINK KURANDA OBJECTIVE...
 
Youth Link Kuranda has been consistently supported since its inception eight years ago by philanthropist funding. Due to internal restructuring within our primary funding source, Youth Link Kuranda's funding will recommence July this year.
 
This has left the much loved centre without its core funding for almost six months. Although Youth Link Cairns contributes to Kuranda in terms of wages and operational costs, they will be unable to cover the full costs and require bridging funding to get us through to July.
 
Youth Link Kuranda is a vital part of the network of services in Kuranda that provides a safe space for our wonderful young people helping them towards reaching their goals.
 
Your donations will ensure Youth Link Kuranda continues to offer a much needed and valuable service for the youths of the local community.

 
WHO WE ARE...

 

In late 2013 Youth Link Cairns (www.youthlink.org.au) established an outreach office in Kuranda located in Far North Queensland.

Youth Link Kuranda is a place based response to a range of youth concerns and issues within the local community.

It is well documented that young people in rural areas like Kuranda, have specific issues that are quite different from their metropolitan counterparts. Issues that many rural communities are unable to address due to the lack of support systems required to prevent and minimise these problems.

The culmination of these problems can lead to young people engaging in a range of at risk behaviours that can have far reaching implications on their immediate health and wellbeing and in turn can impact long-term positive life outcomes and lead to intergenerational issues.

"To build unity within our community and connecting beyond – to empower youth to have a positive vision to achieve their goals and dreams."

The initiative aims to celebrate youth culture and draw on the new innovations this generation brings forward and encourage young people to be integrated into their community as much as possible. By focusing on the strengths of young people they will have an outlet of creative and experiential learning whilst a holistic approach offers access to information, education and social and personal development.

A safe place for young people from a rural community to explore culture, art, dance and music, that concurrently provides a range of supports and is a place to go for inspiration, expression, learning and opportunity.
