Youth Group Pilgrimage to Haiti

Hello! We are the youth delegates from St. Marks Church who will be traveling to Haiti this year. On this trip, 7 youth and 3 adults from St Mark’s Church and School in Altadena will venture to La Tournelle Haiti to visit our partner church and school, St. Marguerite's. This partnership has been in place since 2012 and this trip will mark the second annual trip with youth. Our partnership so far provides a daily lunch program to feed over 180 students of St. Marguerite's School and assists with teacher salaries since various disasters have impaired parents' ability to pay tuition. We also have initiated a new microcredit program administered by ERD (Episcopal Relief and Development ).We are crazy excited to learn and experience the wisdom and warmth of our partners and find out how we can best serve as partners. In preparation for our trip we have each been thinking about why we want to go to Haiti, this is what we came up with.

-         “By going we can see the impact that our partnership has had and also look for ways to improve our relationship in the future”.

-       “I think that the trip at its core is about experiencing and trying to understand a community that is so different from our own and trying to understand and experience the joy and hardships there”

-       “I think I want to learn not only about a community different from my own but also about myself in a new environment”

-       “I want to actually see what it’s like there. I’ve seen pictures but I want to actually see for myself what the people there are going through.

In order to make it to Haiti this December we need your help! We have been fundraising within the St. Marks community but now it is time to bring in all of our fabulous friends and family.
