Our Friends Need Our Help
Donation protected

I am Kitty Hopkins, owner of Chapman's Food and Spirits Restaurant in Downtown Southern Pines. My friend, Maureen Cremins and I are seeking your help to assist a beautiful family, David & Amy McDonald, by making a donation today to help with the daily care and medical need for our dear friend Amy Lancaster McDonald.
Amy was diagnosed with a highly progressive brain disease called Frontal Temporal Dementia, FTD . Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a group of related conditions resulting from the progressive degeneration of the temporal and frontal lobes of the brain. These areas of the brain play a significant role in decision-making, behavioral control, emotion and language. Amy suffers the effects of all of these conditions and requires 24 hour care.
David and Amy McDonald are both Moore County natives, married nearly 33 years with three grown children. Katey, the oldest resides in Asheville with her husband. Duncan, the youngest is a NC State student and Magey works in Southern Pines and currently resides with her parents near Foxfire.
David a talented musician in Cousin Amy's Band and plumber by trade, is unable to work a consistent work schedule as he cares for Amy at their home. David juggles Amy's care schedule with work schedules and responsibilities between daughter Magey, sister Jayne Cummings, brother in law David and a few very generous members of McDonald's Presbyterian Church. Sadly, Amy's condition will continue to rapidly deteriorate and require skilled nursing care .
Amy is the daughter of Ed & Martha Lancaster. Amy's father Ed Lancaster, former VP of Harris Wholesale Company passed away earlier this year. Amy's mother, sadly suffers from Dementia and requires 24 hour care as well.
Your kind donation will help this wonderful family through the most difficult time!
