You Are Special

The Octave band first-ever concert will be held on the 20th of September 2019 @The Bowery Theatre, St Albans in hopes to raise money for orphanages in the Chin State, Myanmar.

Witnessing it first hand the struggles that Chin families, especially orphanages in the Chin State go through as simple as putting food on the table has been overwhelming. According to Savethechildren.org for Myanmar, 32% of people live in poverty and 29% of children suffer from stunting due to malnutrition. As remote as the mountain hill villages are, statistics are often not accurate enough to describe reality. Due to not having enough food on the table, education and sanitation are all affected causing a domino effect. In recent years, the rate of orphans being presented on the streets and in orphanages has increased dramatically due to deceased parents, rape case or abandoned by parents. These orphans did not choose to be born this way, a way in which they feel like they will never have future. They don't deserve to be treated less than us, they are as capable of doing anything as much as we are. They are special as much as you are! They need our help. Every night you go to bed in a soft mattress knowing that you will have food to eat tomorrow morning while someone on the other side of the world is sleeping on a wooden floor and is hoping that they never wake up so they don't have to go through shame and hunger.
