Yorkshire 3 Peaks in memory of Reggie

On 25th August 2021 at 37+4 weeks pregnant I suffered a sudden complete placental abruption which caused severe blood loss. I was blue lighted by ambulance to James Cook hospital and rushed straight to theatre for an emergency c-section where doctors delivered our baby & worked to stop the bleeding.

Unfortunately our beautiful boy Reggie was born sleeping but otherwise perfect in every way.

Severe placental abruption can usually cause dire consequences for both mother & baby so although we are all absolutely heartbroken by the passing of Reggie, we are forever grateful to the amazing paramedics, doctors & nurses who saved my life.

Staff at James Cook delivery suite went above & beyond to support our families through a very difficult time, as well as being cared for in their critical care room, we were given access to a suite called ‘Billy’s Room’ which is specifically for bereaved families to spend time together.

In memory of Reggie and as a thanks to all the staff at James Cook delivery suite we will be taking part in the Yorkshire three peaks challenge on Saturday 25th June 2022 - exactly 10 months on from Reggies birth & passing, with the aim of raising money for the delivery suite as we are aware they would like to develop their critical care room and also have plans for another bereavement suite.

Tees-riders MCC have also kindly nominated this charity for their annual fundraising throughout 2022 and so 100% of all money raised including this online crowd funding will go directly into their charity account to present a cheque with the final amount to ‘Our Hospitals Charity’ in December 2022.
