Yogi’s Cancer Crushing Team

If you know me at all, you know our dog, Yogi. If you know Yogi at all, you know he’s the goodest boy around. Yogi has been with me for 4 years, traveled the country with me more times than I can count.  Everyone that meets Yogi, feels the instant soul connection that he provides. He been there in the hardest of times and the best of times. When I first adopted Yogi, he was 25 lbs underweight, afraid and almost hairless. He came from the streets of Arkansas to the Rocky Mountains from Mountain Pet Rescue. I have always tried to give him the best life and he has made my life better than I ever could of imagined. Yogi is an ESA for me and a comfort for everyone he meets. He is unlike any dog and his soul shines through his golden eyes.

Yogi has recently been diagnosed with Metastic Carcinoma, a form a cancer on his lungs. It all started 7 months ago when Yogi developed a limp. We saw the vet almost every 2-3 weeks for that time trying to help his limp out. Yogi saw an animal Chiropractor and Accupuncturist, multiple sets of x-rays, Gilly carried him up and down the stairs every time he needed to go out, pain pills,  and a last resort diagnosis of Tendinitis.

After months of not seeing any change, Natalie pushed for more x-rays and would not leave the vet without an answer. Dr.Ross (Fox hollow Animal Hospital) started to feel around more and noticed more tissue under Yogi’s armpit and ribs and ordered more X-rays again and had them sent to a Radiologist. From there they found a small nodule on Yogi’s lung.

At this point, we were heart broken and had very few answers. We were instructed to get into CSU Animal Hospital ASAP. Luckily CSU is one of the top hospitals in the state as well as flexible to work outside their lines and got Yogi in quickly. Yogi got an ultra sound on his stomach and neck (now a bare belly boy) and they think they have finally located the primary tumor which is located on his thyroid and lymph nodes. They think it is a parathyroid tumor and hopefully removing this will help stop the cancer from Spreading. We will know more once the tumor has been removed.

Yogi is currently on a 4 day vacation at CSU to receive his surgery. His surgery is tomorrow 8/17 and we will be awaiting for positive news. He will then be in critical care for the next 3-4 days after surgery. This has been one of the most trying times of our life. Leaving him was one of the most soul crushing feelings I have ever experienced. A dog is just a dog to some people, Yogi is my soulmate, an extension of me, my best friend, my everything.

This is where we reach out to our community, friends, family and to everyone else this may reach....
a few friends mentioned creating a go fund me and this is pretty unlike us to ask for help, especially in a financial way.

Yogis medical bills are already nearing $5,000. Not to mention the last 8 months of bills prior to this diagnosis. Gil works for a non-profit at a camp for people with disabilities, Easter Seals Rocky Mountain Village (where Yogi is loved by campers and staff) and I run my own business helping folks with special needs find jobs. We also run our own jewelry business together and all sales from our jewerly will be going directly to Yogi’s medical fund. Please check www.crystaleyesdesigns.com for jewerly.

I am asking from the bottom of my heart that if Yogi has positively impacted your life in any way or understand the love of a family member in crisis to please donate any amount, no matter how small. And if you cannot donate, please Keep us in your prayers and thoughts. The thought of loosing our boy to something so terrible is literally unbearable.

Thank you so much for the consideration and the love our community has already shown us. We are so lucky to have Yogi and our amazing friends and family in our lives.

With Love,
Natalie, Gilly, Yogi & Ellie ❤️
